Our workshops are an opportunity to learn from some of the talented individuals in our doll community. These volunteers have offered to share their knowledge with you and give you an opportunity to increase your skills.


You can register for these workshops beginning on February 11, 2023 at bconventions.com.

Creating Barbie® Doll Jewelry for You

Description: Let's have fun wearing some of our beautiful Barbie® Doll jewelry! You will create an adult sized stainless-steel bracelet with charms. You can also add some of your favorite charms from past conventions. Instructor: Shirley Nakawatase

Creating Jewelry for Dolls

Description: Learn how to create stunning crystal jewelry for your dolls. You will learn to work with metal wire, beads and crystals, At the end of the class, you will go home with a piece worthy to be paired with your most beautiful doll gown. You will also take home a set of pliers to help you create additional jewelry for your dolls.

Designing Bags for Dolls

Description: Learn how to make stylish handbags for your favorite dolls using cut wood. No sewing skills needed to create these fun and realistic handbags.

Design Your Own Miniature Fireplace

 Description: You will create a deluxe mid-century mod cardboard seasonal fireplace. This retro structure is perfect to show off your 12 days of Christmas goodies or your own winter miniatures. It will involve scoring and is designed for someone with a moderate skill level with these kinds of crafts.

Items to bring: Exacto Knife, Scissors, Cutting Mat (approximately 11x17), Steel Ruler with protective backing such as tape, cork or felt.

Doll Hair Styling 

Description: Learn how to cut and style a doll into a 60's updo and also some useful braiding tips for creating unique styles. Participants will learn a number of useful hair styling/curling tips that will give them the basics for reproducing additional classic looks at home. Instructor: Jeff Bouchard/Joshard Originals

Doll Hair Rerooting

Description: This is a beginner's class for those who want to learn how to reroot their dolls. You will learn basic techniques as well as some tips and tricks.You will receive a kit to complete a reroot utilizing Saran hair.

used for practice)

Description: You will change an everyday household item into a stylish hat which you can customize to your taste and coordinate with your favorite doll outfit.

lnstagram Basics 

Description: Learn how to connect with other doll collectors on #dollinstagram. This is a class for those new to lnstagram and will teach how to download the app and create an account as well as do your first lnstagram post.

Making Doll Size Tropical Drinks 

Description: Make at least four different styles of luscious looking exotic drinks in various colors for your fashionistas. Decorate the drinks with ice cubes, fruit slices, flowers, a straw or a mini parasol swizzle stick. Add a charm to the drink base to tell who's is who's. Technique does not involve resin or paint. Kit includes plastic glassware, clay fruit slices, straws, trays, etc. and a handout. And a surprise too!

Pattern Making

Description: Want to sew garments for your "curvy", "petite", or "tall" Barbie® Doll but lack the patterns to do so? Then this workshop is for you. You will learn skills and techniques to create a "sloper" pattern for your dolls individual body type. This can be used to create other patterns through pattern manipulation. Knowledge of pattern manipulation is helpful, but not required.

Photographing Barbie® Doll

Description: Take your dolls outside of the normal plastic world and bring them into your world. This is a hands-on class where participants will walk to various locations around the convention facility to learn how to "trick" perspective and make your fashion-doll sized dolls appear human-sized. Each person will get personalized instruction to help them understand how to take pictures like the ones below.

Poodle Making

Description: This workshop will introduce you to the process of creating cute French Poodles for your favorite Barbie® Doll. You will create two French Poodles in the colors of your choice. Instructor: George Sarofeen

Seasonal Watercolor Paintings 

Description: You will paint with watercolors to create four fashion illustrations, one for each season. The four illustrations will be previously drawn on watercolor paper, all ready for you to start painting. Each participant will get a set of pan watercolors, a brush and a fine point pen. You will learn basic watercolor techniques like wet on dry, wet to wet and washes. No previous watercolor knowledge needed - beginners welcome.
