Flock Art Studio– The Art of Electrostatic Flocking for Your Dolls with Rob Thompson

Electrostatic flocking is the method doll factories use to flock dolls heads that leaves the doll with a standing hair fiber that looks like the hair has been buzz clipped . The process uses 2mm sized hair fibers not flocking powder.

For this workshop you will bring your choice of boy or girl doll and leave with completed flocked doll. Be sure to bring your doll bald to the workshop as there won’t be time to remove the hair and flock the doll. You will have your choice of several natural and fun fantasy hair colors to choose from for the flocking and several various hairstyles on display for inspiration. All supplies (other than a bald doll) will be provided.

Rob built a hand held machine that delivers an electrostatic charge to the hair fiber that then adheres to the glue on the dolls head. Each attendee will receive a printout that will direct you to a website where you can find the instructions to build a machine (or purchase a machine) if you would like as well as sources for the flocking fiber.
