WORKSHOP 4

Mid-Century Modern Barbie® Canvas

by Stephanie Tatum

DIRECTOR A

THURSDAY      $30

SATURDAY

Limited to 35 participants each.

This is a hands-on Workshop where participants will create a OOAK Barbie® full-size art canvas; the perfect, unique addition to a doll room!

Utilizing pictures, embellishments and a canvas, participants will create a full-size picture worthy of framing! No skills needed; the class involves decoupaging and embellishing a canvas.

Stephanie Tatum is a mixed-media artist and photographer. She will provide brief instructions in a classroom style format, and then walk around to make sure that everyone creates a canvas that they are proud of.

* All supplies will be provided for participants.

WORKSHOP 5

Mid-Century Modern Fancy Fashion

by Linda Leake-Beard

DIRECTOR 7

THURSDAY      $25

SATURDAY

 Limited to 35 participants each.

Would you like to show off your Barbie® doll in a fashion frock of your own design? Then this Workshop is for you! Each participant will be provided with a plain, finished, solid color dress, with many embellishments and decorations provided to customize your dress to the theme you desire. You will take home a completed fashion that you’ll be proud to show your friends! No previous crafting or sewing knowledge is required.

Linda Leake-Beard is a formal, bridal and Barbie® doll seamstress (since 1978), making and altering bridal gowns and formal attire. Linda says, “I also am a serious Barbie® doll seamstress. I have made fashions for several Conventions and also periodically sell fashions for Barbie® doll as well as OOAK dolls. I look forward to having you in my class”.

* Participants should bring a small pair of scissors. All other supplies will be provided.

WORKSHOP 6

Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table

by Nelly Miranda (and helper Melissa Salinas)

DIRECTOR A

THURSDAY      $20

FRIDAY

Limited to 35 participants each.

Does your doll like to party and needs a Mid-Century Modern coffee table to sit around with friends and sip some drinks? You are going to have a bash and flip your lid! In this Workshop, you will put tables together and have fun painting or adding retro decor. Several options will be available in gel stains, acrylic paint, stencils and scrapbook paper. All you need is to find the right “MCM style” for your doll.

Nelly Miranda has been collecting since 2005, and in 2020, started to get into the doll scene (and is loving every minute of it). She enjoys crafting and creating cute, easy furniture ideas for dolls.

* Participants should bring a small pair of scissors. All other supplies will be provided.

WORKSHOP 7

Picture This! A Mid-Century

Modern Art Studio

by Ric Markin

DIRECTOR A

WEDNESDAY      $30

Limited to 50 participants.

In this Workshop, you will bring to life a 1:6 scale Mid-Century Modern work of art. Ric Markin will guide participants as they create a unique and whimsical piece in this iconic style. Your one of a kind, finished wall art will compliment any DREAMHOUSE™ or vignette.

Ric Markin of Capitol Designs hosts a range of design and collector services. His formal art training provides the foundation for his work — from designing gallery displays and distinctive fashion styles, to designing toy prototypes. He creates the full world of the Barbie® doll — custom handbags, miniature florals, and millinery — and is widely known for his thoughtful and entertaining vignettes.

* All supplies will be provided for participants.

WORKSHOP 8

Mid-Century Modern Luggage Set

by Brooke Jones

DIRECTOR A

THURSDAY      $25

SATURDAY

Limited to 30 participants.

Every jet-setting doll knows that the key to arriving in style is a set of matched luggage. In this class you will learn the techniques to craft an eye-catching 4-piece luggage wardrobe for Barbie® doll.  This non-functional 1:6 scale set includes a "steamer," "suitcase," "hand held" and "hat box" silhouette, crafted entirely from card stock.  This Workshop will focus on making the Hat Box and, time permitting, a second shape from the set.

From Sydney, Australia, you may know Brooke Jones, from Instagram as @barbie.boulevardier.  Brooke says, “I've attended two Australian Conventions and I am super excited that 2024 will be my second USA Convention (you all made me feel like family in Orlando, so of course I had to come back). I've a background in fashion design and patternmaking, so I love to use these skills in service of our girl Barbie® doll.  Let’s get together and make some luggage!”

* Participants should bring an Exacto knife, small pair of scissors, cutting mat and steel ruler.
